Language is one of the things that makes people different from other animals, and the invention of written language some 3000 years ago is one of the things separating civilization from pre-historic peoples. Today people read a variety of materials in a large number of places, and readers have become a familiar pictorial theme. Andre Kertesz is probably the photographer most identified with this subject.
